Welcome to SoberNorth

If you’re struggling with Alcohol and/or Drugs, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  Regardless of where you are on your journey, there’s so many people in the exact same spot.  If you’re still in active addiction, you are only one decision away from a better life, even if you’ve tried many times before.  And if you’ve started your Sober journey – new or coming back, big congrats to you – time to heal and thrive baby!

My name’s Matt and I know first hand the misery, heartache, destruction, and loss that this disease brings.  It invaded my thoughts, it took my soul hostage, it maimed my emotions, and ended up running the whole game at times…with no mercy spared.  I was sick.  Today, I’m 5 months Sober and feeling the best I’ve felt emotionally, physically, and spiritually since I can remember.

My Sober journey has been a long one.  I’d like to tell you that I ‘got it’ the first time, but I didn’t…shit I wish I did though. I was in and out of the rooms of AA for a better part of a decade only to relapse time and time again, and the losses just kept piling up.  This time around I came back on my knees with acceptance, open-mindedness, honesty, and a willingness to do whatever I needed to do to get well.  I got to work immediately (steps) and built my sobriety team.  Today my program looks like this – AA, sponsor, therapist, gym, swimming, meditation, and God.

I think everyone needs to find and build an overall program that best fits them.  I’m a believer in AA as part of my overall individual program, however it’s not lost on me that many people don’t like it.  Many think of old people, church basements, and God.  While there are some truths to that, it’s not exactly just that.  There’s many options out there though.  The goal of SoberNorth is to provide you with info on all the available options so you can find the programs that are right for you.

Information is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power gives you the courage to take action.  So know your options.

Also check out our podcasts, blogs, content, etc….you might find something in those that help.  That’s the goal.

If you find any of this helpful, please let me know.  I’d love to hear your feedback so I can make improvements to better help my fellow brothers and sisters that have decided to embark on this beautiful sobriety journey.  If you have any questions, please ask.

Sobriety takes work.  And it’s so fucking worth it.

We got this.  Much love. ?

Matt
