My name\u2019s Matt and I know first hand the misery, heartache, destruction, and loss that this disease brings.\u00a0 It invaded my thoughts, it took my soul hostage, it maimed my emotions, and ended up running the whole game at times\u2026with no mercy spared.\u00a0 I was sick.\u00a0 Today, I\u2019m 5 months Sober and feeling the best I\u2019ve felt emotionally, physically, and spiritually since I can remember.<\/p>\n

My Sober journey has been a long one.\u00a0 I\u2019d like to tell you that I \u2018got it\u2019 the first time, but I didn\u2019t\u2026shit I wish I did though. I was in and out of the rooms of AA for a better part of a decade only to relapse time and time again, and the losses just kept piling up.\u00a0 This time around I came back on my knees with acceptance, open-mindedness, honesty, and a willingness to do whatever I needed to do to get well.\u00a0 I got to work immediately (steps) and built my sobriety team.\u00a0 Today my program looks like this – AA, sponsor, therapist, gym, swimming, meditation, and God.<\/p>\n

I think everyone needs to find and build an overall program that best fits them.\u00a0 I\u2019m a believer in AA as part of my overall individual program, however it\u2019s not lost on me that many people don\u2019t like it.\u00a0 Many think of old people, church basements, and God.\u00a0 While there are some truths to that, it\u2019s not exactly just that.\u00a0 There\u2019s many options out there though.\u00a0 The goal of SoberNorth is to provide you with info on all the available options so you can find the programs that are right for you.<\/p>\n

Information is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power gives you the courage to take action.\u00a0 So know your options.<\/p>\n

Also check out our podcasts, blogs, content, etc\u2026.you might find something in those that help.\u00a0 That\u2019s the goal.<\/p>\n
