The finest four legged care

Benita Altier began her career in veterinary technology in 1988. She has worked in small animal general practices in avian medicine, including birds of prey, canine, equine, and llama neonatal care and reproduction, as well as ophthalmology and dental specialty practice.

Benita earned her board certification through the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians by examination in 2008 and began her business, Pawsitive Dental Education LLC, in 2009. Through educating the professionals, she has impacted the lives of many more animals than she could ever do in practice. She is very passionate about helping veterinary professionals learn how to perform dentistry procedures efficiently, proficiently, and safely!

ABC's of Veterinary Dental Radiology

Unlocking the mystery of how to obtain diagnostic dental radiographs efficiently on both the dog and cat is the goal of this hands-on lab. This objective method will be learned and practiced during this four-hour learning event at your hospital. RACE approved for 4 hours of continuing education credits for DVM, LVT, CVT, RVT, and LVMT.

Essential Skills in Veterinary Dentistry

This four-hour hands-on skills course will cover all of the basics including power equipment, ultrasonic scaling and polishing techniques, oral examination and charting, and instruments for the CORE procedure including how to sharpen them! RACE approved for 4 hours of continuing education credits for DVM, LVT, CVT, RVT, and LVMT.

Nerve Blocks for Dentistry

This two-hour add-on continuing education course will cover everything from the drugs we can use to perform regional dental blocks, benefits vs. risks, potential complications as well as volumes and dosages. Canine and feline anatomy will be discussed as it relates to these nerve blocks. Commonly used blocks and methods will be learned and practiced. RACE approved for two hours of continuing education credits for DVM, LVT, CVT, RVT, and LVMT.

Level Two Advancing Skills in Dentistry for DVMs and Technicians

Taking your skills to the next level of professional dentistry is what this course is all about. Gaining a deeper understanding of concepts such as occlusal evaluation, more advanced oral examination, and charting skills as well as periodontal therapy to save teeth will be taught and practiced. This course also covers the more difficult to obtain dental radiographs as well as troubleshooting techniques to correct for images that are not diagnostic. RACE approved for 4 hours of continuing education credits for DVM, LVT, CVT, RVT, and LVMT.
